Rabia Z’s modest glamour at Dubai Fashion Week

Dubai: Afghan-Emirati designer Rabia Z brought the second day of Dubai Fashion Week to a glamorous but modest end on Wednesday night.

The modesty came both in the clothes and in the sparse attendance, which was a shame, considering Rabia’s collection was one of the best this season’s event has seen so far.

Harking back to her college days in New York City, Rabia sent her models down in shades of orange, olive green, khaki layered with browns, navy blue and charcoal grey.

“I wanted to capture the essence of autumn in New York with this Fall/Winter collection,” she said later.

Known for promoting her “conservative chic” looks, with almost every piece intended for hijab-wearing women, the glamour was not lost as almost every model strutted out in dark designer glasses.
